About Alexis Harding

Collaborator on Career Advice

I am the third of four children raised in a traditional two-parent Bajan/American household in the diverse community of Cambridge, MA. Our neighborhood taught me to accept and appreciate many cultures and value inclusivity as navigating variety was a part of our everyday lives beginning at a very young age. In our home environment, failure was always considered a stepping stone in the path of success, therefore I became fearless in my pursuit of my endeavors. This shaped my attitude of “taking every chance and dropping every fear.”

In Ohio at Wilberforce University, I studied Government and Political Science earning my BS.  There I fell in love with the relaxed pace of the Midwest and embarked upon my professional career at an IT staffing and service solutions company.

After seven years in recruitment, sales, and human resource management, I began exploring opportunities in the nonprofit sector, closer to home. I then went into human resources management at an Ivy League university, providing an array of HR services including HCM strategy, organizational leadership, HR policy development, labor/employee relations, and coaching and mentoring for management and staff.  Currently, I am a Senior HR Business Partner at a private university.

A proud mom of two wonderful boys, I am committed to arming our youth males and females alike with the confidence and tools they will need to understand the importance of being ambitious enough to take chances!

I am humbled by and excited about the opportunity to be a part of Women at Work and to engage with women who have so many different stories, have worked in so many different sectors, and are at varying levels of their careers. If I can help even one woman, my efforts will not be in vain.
